Tonight I received a call from Nial Fuller. He was looking to see if we could resolve our differences.
I told him it was easy - what I objected to was the misleading editing of my comments. (For a background to the issue see “92% Traders Lose Money“). He offered to let me write a new comment explaining my position on condition it was ‘neutral’. I declined since the blog ‘92% Traders Lose Money’ says all I want to say on the matter. I did tell him I would write a blog to say we had resolved the issue.
I am glad that Nial took the trouble to call and I accept that Nial and his editor did not intend to mislead; that said, the editing was misleading. If editing is to take place in a public blog, then bloggers have a responsibility to ensure that the edited version reflects the intent of the writer. The alternative is to just not publish the comment.
