I was lucky enough to be given a review copy of Dr. Brett Steenbarger’s new book: The Daily Trading Coach.

It’s due out in April 2009 and I’ll do a book review around March. In the meantime, let me say that it is one of the best books, if not the best book,  on trading psychology I have read in the past 30 years.

Those who  know me, know I love to read. I did a photo-reading course many years ago and Chrisy, my wife, says it was one of the ‘worst’ courses I have ever attended: as a result of the course, I read about 10 to 12 books a month; and the books keep threatening to ‘eat us out of house and home!’.

I tell you this so that  you have some awareness of context for my praise of Brett’s book.

His two earlier books I thought had great content but I did struggle with his style. No such difficulties in this case. It’s written in a simple to read, motivational manner and most of all,  in a very practical manner. What I like most about the styel is Brett’s statement of an idea that is followed by an illustrative example, analogy and/or metaphor taken in our daily activities. If Nature of Trends were written this way, readers would find NOT a more readable book.

The content is great. It ranges from values to visions to goals to actions we need to take to overcome the obstacles that bar our success. It also has innovative ways of identifying and increasing our strengths.

I’d say the book ought to be on the desk of every trader. It’s so good that I’ll be bundling it in all my future seminars and webinars.

My normal disclaimer: I receive no commission or any sort of compensation for this recommendation. I give it because it is a great book and it deserves a place in every trader’s bookshelf.
