Last weekend I was at ATIC convention at Marina Bay Sands and this Saturday was at Suntec City Convention Centre with CityIndex. As usual, as Hononary Marketing Director for BarroMetrics, I like to take video clips to register what the speakers share with the audience.
It is not easy to get Singaporeans to wake up early to go to a seminar or presentation on a Saturday morning; hence, the organizers must bear this in mind, more so when entry is free for whatever reasons. From my observations of freebies, registration will be fully taken up when free but because it is free, there is always a percentage with no-show, thereby depriving those who really want to attend but unable due to full registration.
This is nettlesome for most organizers who wish to give free attendance to their clients, only to be disappointed that a percentage do not show up for whatever personal reasons on the day. Perhaps, one way to prevent this is to charge a nominal fee of say $30 to cover expenses, to be refunded to clients if they show up. My thinking.
